ecoFINISH®

ecoFINISH® High Performance Coatings is the world's first, largest, and fastest growing manufacturer of polymer coatings.

ecoFINISH®

ecoFINISH® has been around a long time. Originally it was used to coat the inside of potable water tanks. Only in the last few years has the ecoFINISH® system began to trend with the swimming pool industry. The product and application processes are new and unique. Many of the applicators are new to the process and issues have surfaced caused by improperly prepared surfaces. Many of these issues have been resolved with sanding cleaning and reapplying the areas of concern.

ecoFINISH® High Performance Coatings is the world's first, largest, and fastest growing manufacturer of polymer coatings. Our pneumatically applied high performance thermal plastic coatings have their own patented installation system, and eliminates most shortcomings found in other industrial and aquatic coatings. From our aquaBRIGHT and polyFIBRO for aquatic coatings, to our ecoDUSTRIAL coatings for industrial use, ecoFINISH has a finish that is right for your needs.

For decades, swimming pools were coated in a silky white rubber-based paint finish. In addition to the smooth texture and bright white look, this type of paint was known for its durability against stains and imperfections. During the late 1980’s, government regulations banned some of the most crucial ingredients that made this product maintenance free. New paints were no longer free of imperfections.

This forced swimming pool builders in many regions to switch to plaster finishes. Plaster has its own set of issues, in the form of a long and complicated start-up process (Hot-Start), as well as staining, shrinking, and cracking problems. aquaBRIGHT™ was scientifically developed to present a solution to these aquatic finish problems. The long-lasting thermo-polymer finish, aquaBRIGHT™ is the wave of the future. For fiberglass coatings, inquire about our polyFIBRO swimming pool finishes.

What is an ecoFINISH®, and why is it different?

ecoFINISH® is a thermoplastic polymer coating (plastic powder). It is applied pneumatically with a tow able air compressor and flamed as it is sprayed from an applicator gun. ecoFINISH® is  applied over plaster finishes and fiberglass pools. Typically older fiberglass pools benefit the greatest but new fiberglass pools also can benefit from an ecoFINISH®. Issues such as blistering, cracking, cobalting and caulking that are common on fiberglass surfaces are repaired with speciality fiberglass surface repair techniques. Surface is sanded of all gelcoat/clear coat, an Epoxy bond coat is applied, and then the surface is shot with the thermoplastic polymer coating.

Could I just paint the surface instead?

Yes, painting a pool correctly involves similar surface preparation as the ecoFINISH® and depending on paint selected the cost could be less. The paint color is typically white or blue, you normally have to repaint with the same type of paint within a few years and still the chance for  blistering, chipping, peeling, and fading can begin to appear in as little as six months. The ecoFINISH® will last longer and the surface has a more distinct color spectrum than standard paint.

Can ecoFINISH® be coated?

Yes, ecoFINISH® surface can be recoated. There are a number reason you would need to recoat. One unique characteristic of the ecoFINISH® surface is the ability to heat new powder on top of old. Surface preparation only involves cleaning and drying prior to shooting. If a new surface repair is required, this can be done and the area blended to match.
